My Academic Journey & CV

I am trained as a Theoretical Physicist, but Douglas Hofstadter's Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid changed my life eternally!
I went to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) in 2011 to understand modern Artificial Intelligence. However, I completed my reluctant Ph.D. in Computing and Information Systems within three otherwise enlightening years in 2014. UNCC has an astonishingly rich library! Before joining the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in 2022 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Big Data and AI, I taught Computer Science and Engineering courses in the UNL School of Computing from 2014 to 2022 as a Data Science Assistant Professor of Practice. I have also taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and North South University (Bangladesh). I earned a Master's degree in Applied Information Technology from Monash University (Australia).
In my earlier life, I pursued Theoretical Physics and obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Physics. My passion for Physics was sparked by my mentor and the great Bengali novelist Akhteruzzaman Elias. I wanted to be a novelist, but Elias lured me into the wonderful world of Physics!

Entrepreneurial Venture
Before my reincarnation in modern AI, I co-created a tech startup, Global Village.Com, in 2001 to provide Internet-based telecommunication services to rural areas of Bangladesh. Its mission was to bring the benefits of Internet-based technologies to the "computer-illiterate" people of underdeveloped regions.
